This is what I found this morning!
Born as a single lamb at 13.3 lbs.
Unfortunately the mother rejected it.
Knowing how much I dislike bottle feeding lambs, I restrained the ewe to let the lamb suck.
When I released the ewe she ignored the lamb and wouldn't clean the lamb like most ewes do.
It wasn't until 5 hours later when she was done with the afterbirth that she resumed cleaning the lamb.
Shortly after that the lamb was sucking without a problem.
any comments are welcome?
Looks like you are learning the tricks and are getting to be an expert with the lambs. Your getting a full house (or should I say barn) with all the baby lambs.

ReplyDeletethe mother was very confused.
she stopped cleaning the lamb when the black was not coming off
Larry, it's an ewe lamb (female sheep). The wool colour might change yet to more white wool in the future.
ReplyDeleteChris, It would be nice if you and your family could come and see the lambs. We will be lambing until the middle of March. Sean & Keana will fall in love with cuteness of these lambs.
Nikki it would be nice to come see the lambs and yes I am sure Sean and Keana will fall in love with the cuteness of the lambs.
